Hilltop entered their tilt with Southwest SD on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They never let the Southwest SD Raiders onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Raiders are ranked 623rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hannah Gomez and Viviana Villalpando scored both of Hilltop's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Hilltop pushed their record up to 14-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those five contests. As for Southwest SD, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10-1.

Looking ahead, Hilltop will head out on the road to take on Montgomery at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hilltop is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.7 goals per game this season. As for Southwest SD, they will look to defend their home pitch on Thursday against Sweetwater at 5:30 p.m.
