Basketball Game Preview: New Covenant Christian Flames vs. Lancaster County Christian Lions

The New Covenant Christian Flames will square off against the Lancaster County Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, New Covenant Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Dayspring Christian Academy, but they still walked away with a 36-32 win.

New Covenant Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Qynne Demler out in front who posted 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Miracle Hershey, who had five points in addition to seven steals and six boards.

Meanwhile, Lancaster County Christian hadn't done well against Mount Calvary Christian recently (they were 0-7 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Lancaster County Christian walked away with a 37-30 win over Mount Calvary Christian. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Chargers are ranked 122nd).

New Covenant Christian is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.8 points over those games. The win made it two in a row for Lancaster County Christian and bumps their season record up to 16-8.

New Covenant Christian came up short against Lancaster County Christian when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 40-33. Can New Covenant Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
