Basketball Recap: Valor Academy Comes Up Short

Valor Academy lost against Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Valor Academy were outmatched by the Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology Griffins and fell 46-18. While losing is never fun, Valor Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1337th, while Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology is ranked 596th).

It was another big night for Emily Barajas, who went 11 of 20 en route to 22 points and four steals for Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology. With that strong performance, Barajas is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Vanessa Martinez was another key player, putting up eight points and four steals.

Valor Academy's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valor Academy will head out to square off against Magnolia Science Academy Reseda at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Alliance Marine-Innovation & Technology, they are taking a road trip to take on Sun Valley Magnet at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
