Soccer Game Preview: Mt. Whitney vs. Porterville

The Mt. Whitney Pioneers will head out to square off against the Porterville Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Whitney's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for 11 straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Mt. Whitney is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Monache on Friday. Mt. Whitney came up short against Monache, falling 3-0.

Meanwhile, Porterville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of El Diamante. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by just one goal.

Porterville now has a losing record at 7-8-4. As for Mt. Whitney, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-16-1.

Mt. Whitney suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Porterville in their previous matchup back in January. Can Mt. Whitney avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
