Baseball Recap: Archer Takes a Loss

After a string of three wins, Archer's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Grayson Rams by a score of 8-6. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 6-1 to the Rams when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Archer got a good showing from Ryan McCallion, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. McCallion has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sean Gates was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Pogorezelski, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Archer's loss dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Grayson, they moved to 18-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

While Archer had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
