Baseball Game Preview: Lithia Springs Lions vs. Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs

For the first time this season, Lithia Springs will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Monday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs at 5:55 p.m. Lithia Springs has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Lithia Springs came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-3 to Heritage. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Jaden Cooper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Greyson Smith also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Kennesaw Mountain, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Mt. Bethel Christian Academy 4-3. While the Mustangs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kennesaw Mountain saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Carter, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI. John Trollinger was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Kennesaw Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. Lithia Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
