Basketball Recap: Troy Extends Winning Streak to Two

If Athens wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Troy, they should've done a better job of containing Kailyn Sterling. The Troy Trojans were the clear victor by a 52-27 margin over the Athens Wildcats on Saturday thanks in part to Sterling, who went 12 of 18 en route to 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Parks, who posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

The victory made it two in a row for Troy and bumps their season record up to 7-4. As for Athens, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Troy will square off against Wellsboro at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Athens, they will challenge Wyalusing Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Wyalusing Valley will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Athens surely won't give up without a fight.
