Softball Game Preview: Westlake Lions vs. East Coweta Indians

Westlake hasn't had much luck against East Coweta recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will square off against the Indians at 12:00 p.m. Westlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.

Westlake is headed into Tuesday's matchup following a tie, the team's first since August 18. They and Tri-Cities finished up on equal footing with a 0-0 draw on Saturday.

Meanwhile, East Coweta came tearing into Thursday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Vikings 9-2. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Payton Roberson, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Izzy Kelleher, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Westlake's tie gives them a new season record of 10-7-2. As for East Coweta, their record now sits at 21-3.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Westlake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .585. However, it's not like East Coweta struggles in that department as they've averaged .514. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Westlake might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from East Coweta when the teams last played back in August. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
