Baseball Recap: Utica Comes Up Short

Utica blew Lakeview out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Lakeview got their revenge. The Chieftains fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Chieftains have suffered since April 20th.

Utica saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Reynolds, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Utica's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-16. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Lakeview, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Utica has already played their next matchup, an 8-3 win against Sterling Heights Stevenson on the 23rd. Lakeview has also already played their next game (against University Liggett), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
