Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Miranda Nevarez and Annette Lopez Lead Tulare Western to Victory

Tulare Western won the last time they faced Lemoore and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tulare Western Mustangs blew past the Lemoore Tigers 54-30. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 431st, while the Tigers are ranked 1093rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tulare Western was led to victory by Annette Lopez and Miranda Nevarez. Lopez posted 16 points in addition to eight boards and six assists, while Nevarez put up 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those six assists gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Regina Toscano, who had six points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Tulare Western was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Tulare Western is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. As for Lemoore, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.
