After losing to Vista PEAK Prep the last time they met, Denver South decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Ravens pulled ahead with a 35-34 photo finish over the Bison on Friday. Things were looking grim for the Ravens in the second quarter (they were down by 27) but they stormed back to get the matchup.

Leading Denver South to victory were Daniel Lucado and George O'Reilly. Lucado gained 175 total yards and four touchdowns, while O'Reilly threw for 307 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Lucado really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 84 yards.

When it comes to explaining why Vista PEAK Prep lost, don't look at Tyrone Smiley. Despite the final result, he rushed for 159 yards and three TDs. Smiley's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 159 rushing yards. Canaan Barthlow was another key player, throwing for 158 yards and one touchdown.

The victory got Denver South back to even at 2-2. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they moved to 3-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Denver South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-3 defeat against Northfield on the 26th. As for Vista PEAK Prep, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mullen at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. This will be the Bison's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
