Basketball Game Preview: Maconaquah Braves vs. Lewis Cass Kings

Maconaquah and Lewis Cass are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Maconaquah Braves will face off against the Lewis Cass Kings at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Maconaquah has four straight victories, Lewis Cass has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Maconaquah was able to grind out a solid win over Hamilton Heights, taking the game 67-60.

It was another big night for Josiah Ball, who went 10 for 18 on his way to 34 points. The game was his 34th in a row with at least ten points. Fuddy Kile was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Meanwhile, Lewis Cass was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 50-45 to Southwood.

Maconaquah will have to contain Brody Hillis as he made an impact in Lewis Cass' last game. He posted eight points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Rudd, who scored eight points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Lewis Cass smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Maconaquah's victory bumped their record up to 10-2-1. As for Lewis Cass, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.

Maconaquah took their win against Lewis Cass in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 81-59. In that contest, Maconaquah amassed a halftime lead of 43-23, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
