Soccer Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 7-2 to the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts. That's two games in a row now that Monticello have lost by exactly five goals.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14-1. As for Illinois Valley Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-3 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matches. Monticello will venture away from home to square off against Cornerstone Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Monticello will be up against Cornerstone Christian's rather soft defense (which has allowed three goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Illinois Valley Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Rantoul at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
