Football Game Preview: Draughn Wildcats vs. Chase Trojans

The Draughn Wildcats will face off against the Chase Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Draughn has given up an average of 48.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Draughn is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past West Caldwell with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 58-44. The high-scoring effort was just what the Wildcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Chase was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against East Burke, falling 38-14. The Trojans were down 30-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Draughn will need to focus on slowing down Jontae Wingo, one of several Chase players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 67 yards and one score. Kaiden Boyce was another key player, rushing for 86 yards and one TD.

Draughn's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Chase, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Draughn didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Chase in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, but they still walked away with a 34-28 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Trojans' Zac Frashier, who rushed for 311 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Wildcats to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
