Softball Game Preview: Newman Catholic Knights vs. Clarksville Indians

The Newman Catholic Knights will head out to square off against the Clarksville Indians on Tuesday. The last three games Newman Catholic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

While Newman Catholic's victory against Madrid wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 2-0 shutout last Wednesday. Two seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Meanwhile, Clarksville came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Wildcats 11-1. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won 17 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Clarksville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Newman Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5-1 record this season.
