Preview: Lincoln Lions vs. Prospect Panthers
The Lincoln Lions will head out on the road to square off against the Prospect Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Lincoln unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 51-28 walloping at the hands of Willow Glen. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lincoln has suffered against Willow Glen since January 23, 2019.
Meanwhile, Prospect entered their tilt with Leigh with 12 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 13. Prospect managed a 38-32 victory over Leigh on Tuesday. Given Prospect's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Leigh is ranked 720th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Sadie Slaughter, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Kate Barstow, who scored five points along with two steals.
Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Prospect, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Lincoln came up short against Prospect when the teams last played on January 2nd, falling 49-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Slaughter, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that Lincoln knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
