Soccer Game Preview: Providence Christian Academy vs. Athens Academy

The Providence Christian Academy Storm will face off against the Athens Academy Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Providence Christian Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Discovery on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The loss continues a trend for Providence Christian Academy in their meetings with Discovery: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Athens Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Pinecrest Academy by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Athens Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Pinecrest Academy are ranked 65th).

Providence Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Athens Academy, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Everything went Providence Christian Academy's way against Athens Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Providence Christian Academy made off with a 4-1 victory.
