            Softball Recap: Evans Knights vs. Washington-Wilkes Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Evans had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Washington-Wilkes Tigers  a   5-0 shutout. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.
 Brittney Smith made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. That's the most  strikeouts  she has posted since back in August of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-2 with one  double and one  RBI.

 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Serenity Campos, who  went 1-for-3 with one  home run and three  RBI. Those  three  RBI gave  her a new career-high.
 Evans  hit smart and  finished the game with only two  strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters  in five consecutive  matches  dating back to last season.
 Evans didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next  game,  a  6-5  victory against Screven County on the 8th. As for Washington-Wilkes, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  contest,  a  9-1  defeat against Loganville Christian Academy on the 8th.
