Basketball Recap: Burlingame Takes a Loss

After flying high against The Nueva School last Wednesday, Burlingame came back down to earth. The Burlingame Panthers fell just short of the Lick-Wilmerding Tigers by a score of 54-51 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 529th, while the Tigers are ranked 233rd).

Lick-Wilmerding got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Hailey Moy out in front who went 7 for 13 on her way to 19 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Attley, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Burlingame moved to 3-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Lick-Wilmerding, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-4.

Burlingame has already played their next matchup, a 55-33 loss against Notre Dame on the 14th. As for Lick-Wilmerding, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-42 win against Hillsdale on the 14th.
