Crossroads Christian had won six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they bumped up to 7-1 to make it seven. They walked away with a 66-58 win over the New Garden Friends Bears. That's more bragging rights for the Colts, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Josh Smith produced another solid performance shooting 73% from the field on his way to 22 points. Ely Phillips was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten rebounds.

As for New Garden Friends, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games.

Despite the loss, New Garden Friends still got an impressive performance from Kingston Clifton, who posted 25 points along with eight boards and four steals. Clifton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in each of the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Levente Demeter, who earned 12 points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Crossroads Christian and Falls Lake Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts will be up against the Firebirds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 62.2 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. New Garden Friends will take on Calvary Day School in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Cougars have now posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
