Preview: Midd-West Mustangs vs. Shamokin Area Indians
Midd-West is 0-10 against Shamokin Area since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Midd-West Mustangs will look to defend their home court against the Shamokin Area Indians at 7:30 p.m. Midd-West is out to stop a 14-game streak of losses at home.
Midd-West suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were outmatched by Central Columbia on the road and fell 57-14. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Midd-West in their matchups with Central Columbia: they've now lost nine in a row.
Meanwhile, Shamokin Area beat Selinsgrove 45-34 on Thursday. Given Shamokin Area's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while Selinsgrove is ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Midd-West's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Shamokin Area, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Midd-West was taken down by Shamokin Area 46-8 in their previous meeting on January 2nd. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Midd-West was down 39-4.
