Football Recap: River Road Comes Up Short

River Road was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Gruver Greyhounds 54-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 56-14 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

River Road's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Gruver, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, River Road will square off against Lamesa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will be up against the Tornadoes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Gruver, they will face off against Stratford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Greyhounds their first taste of in-conference action this season.
