Basketball Recap: Northridge Academy Comes Up Short

It was a good run, but Northridge Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They were outmatched by the Leuzinger Olympians and fell 88-22. The match marked the Pumas' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Northridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Delilah Hernandez posted six points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Jennalyn Gerona was another key player, putting up seven points.

Leuzinger found their leader in sophomore Tatyana Aubry, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine steals. Aubry's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brianna Ike, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds.

Northridge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Leuzinger, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-8.

Northridge Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Vaughn at 3:30 p.m. on January 16th. As for Leuzinger, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 66-30 victory against Centennial on the 6th.
