Basketball Recap: Mars Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Mars hadn't done well against Chartiers Valley recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Fightin' Planets came out on top against the Colts by a score of 38-29. The victory was nothing new for the Fightin' Planets as they're now sitting on four straight.

Mars' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alexis Cashdollar, who posted 21 points along with six boards and six steals. Cashdollar has become a key player for the Fightin' Planets: the team is 7-3 when she posts at least three steals, but 2-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cecilia Christy, who scored ten points and six rebounds.

Alyssa Davis and Tenley O'Connor certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Davis put up 15 points and eight boards, while O'Connor earned seven points and eight rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, O'Connor now owns an excellent 46.3% shooting accuracy.

Mars' victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Chartiers Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-13.

Coming up, Mars won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Catholic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Chartiers Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
