Soccer Game Preview: Roybal vs. Bernstein

Roybal and Bernstein are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but likely not for long. The Roybal Titans will take on the Bernstein Dragons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roybal is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

If Bernstein heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Roybal took over last week. Roybal came out on top against Robert F. Kennedy Community by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The Titans better thank their lucky stars for the performance of Aileen Estrada, as she scored every single goal for her team.

Roybal used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Robert F. Kennedy Community. Navil Guerrero played for 40 minutes having averaged 23.8 this season and Alyssa Giron got 60 vs. an average of 38.8. Guerrero made the most of the opportunity, putting up one assist A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Meanwhile, Bernstein had just enough and edged Sotomayor out 2-1 on Monday.

Bernstein used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Sotomayor. Three players hit the pitch for the first time this season: Dayana Deras, Nataly Agustin, and Emily Rivera. The new lineup might be seeing more playing time going forward considering the group combined for a total of one goal and two assist.

The win got Bernstein back to even at 2-2-1. As for Roybal, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Roybal came out on top in a nail-biter against Bernstein in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 1-0. Does Roybal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Bernstein turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
