Recap: Borrego Springs Rams vs. Warner Wildcats
If the Borrego Springs Rams were riding high off their 51-9 takedown of the Calexico Mission RoadRunners last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Borrego Springs was outmatched by Warner at home and fell 38-6. Borrego Springs has not had much luck with Warner recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Michelle Llamas and Abigail Gonzalez certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Llamas scored four points along with eight rebounds, while Gonzalez scored two points along with three steals and two blocks. Llamas has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
Borrego Springs bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Warner, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Borrego Springs will take on San Pasqual Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Warner, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Calexico Mission at 3:00 p.m. Calexico Mission comes in on a streak of failing to score more than nine points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
