Softball Recap: Blue River's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

Blue River suffered their biggest defeat since September 21, 2024 on Saturday. They came up short against the Fort Calhoun Pioneers, falling 12-4. Blue River has struggled against Fort Calhoun recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Tayja Slonecker and Olivia Adams stepped up to the plate in a big way. Slonecker went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Adams went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Ashlyn Long was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.

Having lost for the first time this season, Blue River fell to 3-1. As for Fort Calhoun, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Blue River wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 7-4 win against Southern/Diller-Odell on the 23rd. As for Fort Calhoun, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-2 victory against Guardian Angels Central Catholic on the 23rd.
