Softball Recap: Discovery Canyon Takes a Loss

Discovery Canyon extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-12. They lost 12-2 to the Lutheran Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in September.

Taylor McCann was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Lutheran, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games.

On Lutheran's side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Reed, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Addie Brightman was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Discovery Canyon will take on Cheyenne Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunder's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red-Tailed Hawks have averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Lutheran, they will challenge Erie at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
