Recap: Burrell Bucs vs. St. Joseph Spartans
It was a good run, but the Burrell Bucs unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 72-59 to St. Joseph. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Julie Spinelli was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds for St. Joseph. The game was Spinelli's ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Kreinbrook, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks.
Burrell's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-1. As for St. Joseph, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burrell will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Shady Side Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for St. Joseph, they will challenge Hillel Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
