Recap: Foothill Mustangs vs. Cordova Lancers
The Foothill Mustangs suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2023 on Friday. They were dealt a 52-20 loss at the hands of Cordova. Foothill was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cordova apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Foothill had strong showings from Zeniah Thompson, who scored ten points, and Kaliyah Benjamin-Wade, who scored six points. That was a full 50% of Foothill's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Foothill has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Cordova, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foothill will take on Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 last Wednesday. As for Cordova, they will head out on the road to take on Johnson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
