Soccer Game Preview: Irwin County vs. Echols County

Irwin County is 0-10 against Echols County since March of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Irwin County Indians will head out to face off against the Echols County Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Irwin County has given up an average of 6.3 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Irwin County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Thursday, they were much more limited against Atkinson County on Tuesday. They came up short against the Rebels, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Rebels are ranked 130th).

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Echols County made sure to put some goals up on the board against Turner County on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Titans a 5-0 shutout. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by four goals or more this season.

They hit Turner County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Fidencio Vazquez (2), Juan Carlos Bravo (2), and David Ramirez.

The victory snapped Echols County's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record. As for Irwin County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.
