Basketball Recap: Marina Piles Up the Points Against Anzar

While Marina didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Anzar Hawks 57-25 on Monday. The Mariners have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 28 points or more this season.

Marina found their leader in sophomore Shekinah Williams, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 17 boards. The game was Williams' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mia Martin, who almost dropped a triple-double on ten points, 14 rebounds, and nine steals.

The win (which was Marina's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.8 points per game. As for Anzar, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-6.

Marina has already played their next contest (against Oakwood), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Anzar has also has no score uploaded for their next match, this one against Gonzales.
