Basketball Recap: West Shamokin Takes a Loss

West Shamokin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 66-39 loss at the hands of the River Valley Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-31 back in January.

Ava Persichetti continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for River Valley, putting up 27 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Persichetti's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alessia LaMantia, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

West Shamokin's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for River Valley, the win keeps them at an undefeated 22-0.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Portage the next time they take the court. River Valley will host Portage at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, while West Shamokin will host them at 7:10 p.m. on February 10th.
