Softball Game Preview: Lincoln Northeast Rockets vs. Bellevue East Chieftains

The Lincoln Northeast Rockets will head out on the road to take on the Bellevue East Chieftains at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lincoln Northeast took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Bryan get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Rockets as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jadyn Dryer made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lincoln Northeast got a big performance out of Brynley Chairez, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Taelynn Wunderlich was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Lincoln Northeast always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .792. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Bellevue East got the win against Omaha North on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-1. The win continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won nine in a row.

Brooklyn Houghtailing was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Scarlett Saitta also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Lincoln Northeast's record is now 9-18. As for Bellevue East, their record now sits at 20-9.

Lincoln Northeast suffered a grim 14-4 defeat to Bellevue East in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Rockets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
