Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Pleasant Valley's Winning Streak

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Pleasant Valley couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 67-43 to the St. Mary's Rams on Tuesday. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Valley lost, don't look at Aj Gambol. Despite the final result, she went 8-for-16 to rack up 25 points. Gambol's big performance that evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Ava Dunn, who posted no points and 14 rebounds.

Pleasant Valley's loss dropped their record down to 25-5. As for St. Mary's, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 18-13 record this season.

Pleasant Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary's, they will challenge Priory at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Mary's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Priory likes a good challenge.
