Baseball Recap: Hampton Comes Up Short

Hampton fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Coalfield on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Yellow Jackets by a score of 4-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 14-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

Hampton's loss dropped their record down to 17-14. As for Coalfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Coalfield beat Hampton by a score of 11-7 later that day.
