Softball Recap: Rutland Hurricanes vs. Peach County Trojans

Rutland extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-4. They came up short against the Peach County Trojans, falling 20-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-2 on Saturday.

As for Peach County, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Peach County's part, Anna Grace Wilcox was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Wilcox has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. That hit was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Alyssa Crozier and Lucy Warnock did most of the damage at the plate: Crozier got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Warnock went a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBI and one double. What's more, Crozier posted two hits, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Carroll, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Rutland will head out on the road to take on Taylor County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Peach County, they will take on Lowndes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
