Basketball Game Preview: Round Valley Mustangs vs. Point Arena Pirates

The Round Valley Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Point Arena Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Round Valley took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Anderson Valley by a score of 38-31.

Meanwhile, Point Arena entered their tilt with Tomales on Friday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They breezed by the Braves to the tune of 65-34. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 22 points or more this season.

Round Valley better focus on containing Jayde Swan and Hattie Piper as the pair were huge in Point Arena's win. Swan posted 22 points, while Piper earned 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addy Clark, who scored 11 points.

Round Valley pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.3 points per game. As for Point Arena, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.

Round Valley came up short against Point Arena when the teams last played back in January, falling 47-42. Can Round Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
