Softball Recap: Roosevelt Takes a Loss

Roosevelt dropped to 9-6 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Severance Silver Knights by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Roughriders have suffered since October 8, 2024.

Lily Wiese made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

As for Severance, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

On Severance's side, Katie Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. Thomas has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carly Zentveld was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Roosevelt is set to square off against their familiar foe Timnath at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Severance will take on rival Mountain View at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
