Walnut falls despite strong effort from Maileeh Suasti

Recap: Walnut Mustangs vs. Diamond Bar Brahmas

The Walnut Mustangs suffered their biggest loss since December 6, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Diamond Bar, falling 67-36. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Walnut in their matchups with Diamond Bar: they've now lost six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Walnut lost, one person who can't be blamed is Maileeh Suasti. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Suasti hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Claire Olia, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.

Walnut's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-10. As for Diamond Bar, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut will square off against Rowland at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rowland and Walnut are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads. As for Diamond Bar, they will head out on the road to square off against Los Altos at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Los Altos is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
