Football Game Preview: West Franklin Falcons vs. Nemaha Central Thunder

The West Franklin Falcons will take on the Nemaha Central Thunder at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. West Franklin has given up an average of 49.6 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

West Franklin took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They snuck past Bluestem with a 42-36 victory. The Falcons' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

West Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chandler Scott led the charge by throwing for 277 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, and also punching in one rushing score. Those 277 passing yards gave Scott a new career-high. West Franklin's leading receiver Landon Ohlde was Scott's top target yet again, picking up 141 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Meanwhile, Nemaha Central put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Atchison County 61-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Thunder's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Tigers are ranked 176th).

West Franklin better keep an eye on Carter Hajek. He was instrumental in Nemaha Central's win, rushing for 186 yards and four scores on only nine carries. Hajek's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 119 rushing yards.

Nemaha Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 482 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

West Franklin's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Nemaha Central, their record is now 8-0.
