Basketball Recap: Amaya Grant and Ryan Nair Secure Win for Woodcreek

There's no place like home for Woodcreek, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vista del Lago Eagles on Monday, sneaking past 54-52.

Leading Woodcreek to victory were Ryan Nair and Amaya Grant. Nair went 8 of 19 on her way to 22 points along with seven boards and five assists, while Grant dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. Nair has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 25 times she's played. Chloe Preuss was another key player, putting up nine points.

Woodcreek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Vista del Lago's loss came despite strong showings from Bella Pallari and Kelsey Brooks. Pallari dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards, while Brooks posted 13 points and five assists. Those 19 points gave Pallari a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenna Cassidy, who scored seven points.

The victory got Woodcreek back to even at 9-9. As for Vista del Lago, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Woodcreek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 50-45 win against Inderkum on the 15th. Vista del Lago has also already played their next contest, a 53-36 defeat against Ponderosa on the 17th.
