Basketball Recap: Deer Valley Wolverines vs. Freedom Falcons
Deer Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 62-18 loss at the hands of the Freedom Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Wolverines can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1110th, while the Falcons are ranked 183rd).
It was another big night for Eve Monzon, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards for Freedom. The dominant performance gave Monzon a new career-high in rebounds. Ariel De La O was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 12 points along with six steals and four blocks.
Deer Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Freedom, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
