Soccer Game Preview: Narbonne vs. Gardena

The Narbonne Gauchos will venture away from home to challenge the Gardena Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Narbonne has struggled recently with seven losses in a row, while Gardena will arrive with three straight wins.

Narbonne came up short against San Pedro on Wednesday, falling 12-2. While losing is never fun, the Gauchos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 910th, while the Pirates are ranked 19th).

Alyssa Thomas and Riley Bird scored both of Narbonne's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Gardena kept a clean sheet against Carson on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Colts with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by three goals or more this season.

Narbonne's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8-1. As for Gardena, their win bumped their record up to 10-2-1.

Narbonne might still be hurting after the 5-0 loss they got from Gardena in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Narbonne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
