Baseball Game Preview: Clarke Central Gladiators vs. Alcovy Tigers

For the second straight game, Clarke Central will face off against Alcovy. Clarke Central will be playing at home against Alcovy at 5:55 p.m. on Monday.

Clarke Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Alcovy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Clarke Central put the hurt on Alcovy with a sharp 11-1 victory on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Gladiators needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Diego Martinez-Gamero looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Clarke Central is 3-1 when Martinez-Gamero allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 6-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Clarke Central got a massive performance out of Jared Manago, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Manago has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Casper Emory, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Clarke Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Clarke Central's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11. As for Alcovy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-16.
