Football Game Preview: Northeast Eagles vs. Chesapeake Cougars + How To Watch

The Northeast Eagles will challenge the Chesapeake Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Northeast is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Centennial 56-7. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded Northeast with their most commanding win of the season.

Northeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyle Townsend, who threw for 230 yards and two TDs while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in a pair of scores on the ground. Townsend's passing game has become a key predictor of Northeast's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Ben Gonzales was another key back, rushing for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Northeast was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chesapeake, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They never let Severn Run get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday.

Northeast pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.0 points over those games. As for Chesapeake, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Northeast lost to Chesapeake at home by a decisive 31-13 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
