Baseball Recap: San Ysidro Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

San Ysidro put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against the Oceanside Pirates as the San Ysidro Cougars made off with a 9-2 win. Fans of the Cougars have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

San Ysidro got a great performance from Carlos Gomez as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Gomez a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

On the hitting side, Axel Reyes and Armann Robles did most of the damage at the plate: Reyes went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs, while Robles went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits Reyes has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emmanuel Valdez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

San Ysidro hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in five consecutive games dating back to last season.

San Ysidro pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

San Ysidro didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 6-3 win against La Jolla on the 4th. As for Oceanside, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Escondido on the 4th.
