Recap: Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers vs. California Trojans
The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on California with a sharp 65-44 win. Chartiers-Houston has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chartiers-Houston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ella Richey, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. That's the first time this season that Richey scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Capozzoli, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
The victory (which was Chartiers-Houston's fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for California, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chartiers-Houston will take on Bethlehem Center at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Bethlehem Center is on a three-game streak of home wins, Chartiers-Houston a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. California's road trip will continue as they head out to face Clairton at 10:00 a.m. on January 20th. Clairton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
