Softball Game Preview: Brunswick Wildcats vs. Tina-Avalon Dragons

The Brunswick Wildcats will face off against the Tina-Avalon Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Brunswick will be strutting in after a win while Tina-Avalon will be coming in after a loss.

Brunswick took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Meadville with a sharp 11-1 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Tina-Avalon didn't have quite enough to beat Slater on Monday and fell 4-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost three in a row.

Madeline O'Neal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Alison O'Neal was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Brunswick's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Tina-Avalon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Brunswick took their win against Tina-Avalon when the teams last played back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 20-1 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
