Softball Game Preview: Mercy Monarchs vs. Omaha Central Eagles

The Mercy Monarchs will head out on the road to challenge the Omaha Central Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mercy has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 15th.

Gross Catholic hit Mercy with a seven-run sixth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Monarchs lost 14-7 to the Cougars.

Rae Carmichael was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Addison Feldhaus was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Omaha Central fell victim to Papillion-LaVista and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Monarchs, falling 12-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Monarchs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Mercy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-21. As for Omaha Central, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Mercy skirted past Omaha Central 10-9 in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
